The aim of the CD is to support the phonics schemes used in schools which will lead to the child being a successful reader.

English Sounds and Reading is structured to progress from the English alphabet sounds, to breaking down and rebuilding words in a fun and exciting way for both adults and children.  

Contents - Alphabet Area ( Alf and Betty introduce the 26 Alphabet sounds), Phoneme Areas (This area identifies how two letters can make one sound), Vowels and Consonants, (This area identifies which letters are vowels and consonants), Days Area ( learn the days of the week by joining in with the actions  with Alf and Betty), Blending Area (put the sounds together to make words), Segmenting Area ( listen to the word and say which letters make the word up), Facts and Strategies (listen to some useful hints), Summary of Terms Used (learn some literacy words).    79 minutes approx

Why produce the CD?

After working in the UK and International Schools teaching young children to read I was regularly asked by adults how can I help my child with reading.  Parents, grandparents, carers, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and everyone involved in helping a child with reading needed more than the information given out by the school.  I had to find a resource to help the concerned and willing adults.  I decided I would have to produce a professionally made CD. With the help of the characters Alf  (Harry) and Betty (Lucy)  the CD was produced at a recording studio on the Ku'dam in Berlin.
